The job of an Affiliate Marketer is to have a site(or blog) and promote either your own product, or someone elses. Some ways to promote (or drive traffic to) a product are:
Pay Per Click: Basically, you pay to get targeted traffic to your affiliate site, anywhere from a few pennys, to a few dollars per click. The most popular two in internet advertising:

Fourm Participation: Participate in fourms around the product you've chose to promote. This will put you in area of targeted traffic. Heres an adfourm that has permanent posting, which is great for long-term traffic.
